luke presses a soft kiss to the top of her head. lorelai’s head is resting against his shoulder and rory’s is in his lap and there’s nothing better than having his two girls cuddled up on the couch with him. ‘ i’m good with it. ’

luke blinks for a second, the previous night rushing into his mind. it’s not his place to get between rory and logan, but as rory father figure, he will go to the ends of the earth to keep her safe and happy. ‘ very, logan. and i swear if you hurt her again, you won’t wake up the next morning. ’

luke blinks at her, his eyes wide. he can’t seem to recall what the hell emily is talking about. ‘ what the hell are you talking about emily? ‘

luke smiles to himself, the phone pressed up against his ear. ‘ i have a question for you. ’ his heart feels like it’s going to explode out of his chest. ‘ i know i’m not the guy you saw your daughter with. i can’t give her the life of luxury, but i can take care of her. ’ he takes a deep breath. ‘ emily, can i ask for your daughter’s hand in marriage? ’
"don't go. please, just... stay with me."
he looks back at the entry to the slytherin common room. he doesn’t belong here, among the green and sliver, among the merpeople and lake monster, among the grand fireplace taking up one of the walls, but he does belong here, cuddled up next to lorelai and he’ll stay anywhere she asks him to. ‘ i’m right here,’ he whispers as he presses a soft kiss to the side of her head.
